Pentaksiran Tingkatan Tiga (PT3) is a summative evaluation to assess the academic standard of students in the lower secondary. PT3 is used to replace the Lower Secondary Assessment (PMR) that has been running since 1993. It evaluates the education syllabus from Form 1 to Form 3 based on each subject's respective goals and objective.
PT3 was announced in a rush, just a few months before the first evaluation was due to be held in 2014, beginning in July and ending on October the same year.
The Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), or the Malaysian Certificate of Education, is a national examination taken by all fifth-form secondary school students in Malaysia.
It is the equivalent to the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland; Nationals 4/5 in Scotland; and GCE Ordinary Level in the Commonwealth of Nations. It is the leaving examination of the eleventh grade of schooling.
